Immersive English & Setswana
Every child reads aloud, every day. 30 minutes of structured reading practice every morning — in English Home Language and in Setswana — so words become friends, not threats.

We are not trying to be everything. We are trying to do four things carefully, every day, for every child — and to keep them safe while we do it.

If we do these four things well, we believe the rest follows. If we don’t, please tell us — we are a small enough school to actually fix it.

Real questions. Real answers. Each term every grade runs one shared project — a rainwater gauge, a school garden, a Setswana folk play — that pulls together maths, language and life skills.

Every child gets a weekly check-in. A simple A4 booklet that follows the child from Grade R to Grade 7 — tracking reading level, behaviour wins and one small goal at a time.

A talking circle every Friday. Foundation Phase classes end the week with a structured 20-minute circle. Mr Dlamini, our wellbeing lead, also runs a quiet referral path to our partner clinic.

Safety is not a slogan. Below are the six concrete things we do; the first two have a photo because you should be able to see what they look like in our school.

Mma Tlhabane, our community health worker, is on site three full days a week. We have a fast-track referral arrangement with Taung Provincial Hospital and a parent-call protocol within 15 minutes.

Every learner knows the meeting point on the dusty courtyard. We run a full drill in week 3 and week 8 of every term and review the timing with the SGB.

Manned gate from 06:30 to 18:00. A community watch protocol with the local SAPS sector. CCTV on the front gate and the kitchen store-room, reviewed weekly by the SGB safety subcommittee.
For families more than 3km away we coordinate two PrDP-licensed minibus drivers. Drivers are vetted annually and routes are shared with parents at the start of each term.
Menus designed in line with DBE NSNP guidelines and reviewed each term. Daily ingredient register kept in the kitchen. Allergen list pinned at the kitchen door.
A trained safeguarding lead. A clear, child-friendly reporting path. Monthly wellness assemblies. Confidential referral to our partner clinic for any child who needs more support.
